The Myth of Echo and Narcissus / by Jaz Malone

Narcissus was in love with his own face. He stared at his reflection in a river until he died and regrew into a flower.

Echo loved two things: Narcissus, and the sound of her own voice. Because she was so talkative, she was cursed to repeat what others said, and never to speak for herself, for the rest of her life. When she saw Narcissus, she fell in love with him. At the time, unfortunately, he was looking at himself in the river. Whatever Narcissus told his reflection, Echo repeated it. He meant it for himself, and she meant it for him. He never noticed her, and eventually died.

Moral of the story: People are dumb.

Myths are fun.

This is Echo.
